John Goodman succeeded in selling our Novi home and facilitated obtaining our beautiful new home in Brighton. He orchestrated the closings on the same day for us, and worked hard to make the seemingly impossible obstacles we encountered throughout the process not hinder our goals! Thanks John! Art meets nature in the small community of Brighton! Residents take pride in unique features like Mill Pond Park and the 32-piece outdoor sculpture exhibit. And while small and large businesses alike thrive in this community, it is the people that make it such a great place to call home.

The city is accessible to neighboring communities and commerce thanks to its proximity to U.S. 23 and I-96. Brighton is a short 15 miles drive from Ann Arbor and 45 miles east of the state capital in Lansing.

But there are plenty of reasons to stay off the highway and hang out here. The downtown district features a variety of shops including Art in Bloom, Our Place to Yours, Elite Feet and Lucky Duck Toys. Stop Or stop by Oh My Lolli to see hard candy made from scratch and grab a free sample.

Residents and visitors also enjoy the convenience of having large chains like Marshall’s, Target, Kohl’s and Costco in town as well.

Dining options in Brighton are vast – everything from sushi and Thai to burgers and fries. Some local favorites include Lu & Carl’s, Stillwater Grill and Stout Irish Pub. The Yum Yum Tree is also a hit with families, especially after some serious playtime at Brighton’s Imagination Station.

The community hosts several events every year including the popular Holiday Glow. This event kicks off the holiday season with festivities that include music, dancing, hay rides, and a visit from Santa. In August crowds gather for the Fine Art & Acoustic Music Festival on Main Street. There is also a Farmer’s Market May through October.

The Brighton School District is comprised of four elementary schools, one intermediate, one middle school and one high school. More than 6,700 students attend Brighton’s award-winning schools every day. Students also benefit from the nearby Brighton District Library. Located next to a wetland nature preserve, the library features lots of great spaces to explore including Millie’s Garden and a “cuddle corner” for young readers.

Brighton offers access to more than fifty lakes and natural areas. The Brighton Recreation Area includes 5,000 wooded acres of wilderness to explore by foot, bike, boat, and horseback.

The people of this community enjoy simple pleasures like gathering at the Mill Pond Park located downtown. The park features paved areas as well as a wooden boardwalk that stretches across the Mill Pond. The venue hosts free entertainment in summer months and boasts a play scape, picnic pavilion and several of Brighton’s noted outdoor sculptures.

Housing options include a mix of old and new construction. There are subdivisions, well-established neighborhoods and single-family homes on several acres.
